New Exhibit in the Search Room

[This post comes from State Archives registrar William (Bill) H. Brown.]

In conjunction with our pending presentation on the Confederate Conscription Acts, 1862-1864 on November 19th, the Search Room of the State Archives of North Carolina has set up an exhibit highlighting the different kinds of government documents that were created to apply the acts to the civilian population. These documents range from regimental bounty payrolls to a description of an “AWOL” conscript from Moore County. Please drop by and view these documents during your next visit to the Search Room.
